Hertrich is the former chairman of the Breeders’ Cup board of directors and proprietor of Watercress Farm in Paris, Kentucky. In 1975, he became the youngest Ford dealer in the United States when he formed Frederick Ford Mercury in Seaford, Delaware. Today, Hertrich is the president of the Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships. He has been actively involved in both the Standardbred and Thoroughbred industries in Maryland, Delaware and Kentucky. Hertrich has co-bred grade 1 winners including Boys at Toscanova, Catholic Boy, Diversify, Rushing Fall, Shamardal and Street Boss.
